Excellent post. You really had me laughing over here, especially since it was, sincerely, a profound observation. I sometimes wonder if all of us attempting this experiment of adulthood could actually learn a thing or two from, well, children. Sometimes their view of the world is so untainted.

You make a good point. There is no such thing as a purely emotionless act. Hardened businessmen may appear to show no emotion with transactions or operations, but to purely eliminate it is be inhuman. While I do believe that decisions shouldn't be made purely based on our flawed human emotions, I also feel that they shouldn't be made as if by robots either. We need to recognize that we're all part of one big family and treat each other as such.

Great post. Regardless of your politics this achievement should be recognized as the great yardstick by which we as a nation can measure our progress. Of course we still have a long way to go, but this proves that people can change, and that peace might just be possible.

I completely agree with your sentiment. It is like I told my wife (upon Obama's election; pre-inauguration)....I can finally tell our kids that they can truly be ANYTHING they want to be in life. There is no "asterisk" on that statement any more. On top of that, there can be NO MORE EXCUSES for any of us: Black, White, Latino, etc. There has been an absolute SHIFT in the direction of this country. Whether Obama was "your man" or not, the people have spoken.
